Ezra Review

After so much of waiting, the Prithvi Raj starrer movie named Ezra, written and directed by debutant Jay K has been released all over here today. Ezra is a horror thriller which was jointly produced by AVA Productions and E4 Entertainments. E4 Entertainments had distributed this movie here as well. Popular Kollywood Actress Priya Anand is playing the female lead in this movie and this her Mollywood debut as well. Earlier this movie was planned to release on the 23rd December 2016. But due to the theater strike they had postponed the movie to February 10th. This is the biggest release till now in Prithvi Raj’s career as well.

The plot of this movie revolves around the Jewish Culture that was prevalent in Kochi, Kerala. Prithvi Raj plays a character named Renjan who comes to Kochi with his wife Priya, as he gets a transfer from Mumbai to Kochi as a part of his job. They gets a Villa there to live and while Priya was trying to decorate their house, she brings an Antique Box named Dybbuk to the house from an Antique Shop there in Kochi. It was a box in which an evil spirit has been locked for years and she frees that spirit without knowing anything about it. From there, the movie starts moving. We can say without any doubt that Ezra is the best ever horror film that has been made in Mollywood till now. Each and every aspect of this movie has been brilliant. The screenplay from Jay K has been tight and he had done a great job as a director as well. Each and every frames in the movie carries mystery and the feel which gives the audience can’t be described in words. The way he narrated the plot by giving more importance to visuals and apt background scoring was just terrific. Dialogues were crisp but powerful.

Prithvi Raj had done a terrific job in the movie as Ranjan and it is one of his best performance till date as well. He was so matured and at the same time intense in his performance that he had become the central pillar of this movie. Priya Anand had done a good job as Priya as well and her screen chemistry with Prithvi Raj was super cool too. Tovino Thomas had given a brilliant performance as ACP Shafeer Ahammad and others like Vijaya Raghavan, Sudev Nair, Sujith Shankar, Babu Antony, Alencier Lopez etc also done a great job in it.

The DOP from Sujith Vasudev was just brilliant as each and every frames provided by him just took the audience to the world of Ezra. The color tone and the style of framing given the movie a Hollywood quality as well. Music from Rahul Raj and Sushin Shyam was superb as well. Editing by Vivek Harshan is another highlight of this flick as he had made it crisp and neat. In Total, Ezra is a movie that can’t be missed and it is a wonderful cinematic experience. So go and grab your tickets now otherwise it will be very difficult to get one in the coming days.
