Oru Muthassi Gada is the movie that released here in Kerala on the Thiruvonam Day. The film is scripted and directed by Jude Antony Joseph who had given us the movie Om Shanti Oshana two years back with Nivin Pauly- Nazriya Nazim team. It was a box office success as well as state award winning movie. This film Oru Muthassi Gada is produced by Mukesh R Mehta under the banner of E for Entertainment and the major characters in this movie has been played by Suraj Venjarammoodu, Rajini Chandy, BhagyaLakshmi etc.
The plot of the movie revolves around the characters played by the above mentioned artists. Siby played by Suraj is living with his mother, wife and two children. His mother Leelamma is known is in famous due to her bad temper and her bad temper causes many problems in Siby’s family life and outside. So once they decides to go for a journey and the film shows us the incidents that follows.
First of all we have to say about the performances of artists in this movie. Rajini Chandy, the newcomer who had portrayed the ill -tempered Leelamma has been superb. She had given it all to her character and it had come out very well. After characters in movies like Perariyathavar, Ben, Action Hero Biju and Karinkunnam Sixes, Suraj Venjarammoodu once again showed his range and class as an actor in this movie. Bhagya Lakshmi who played the character named Susamma also done a very good job and her combination scenes with Rajini Chandy has been superb as well. Other artists like Aparnna Balamurali, Vijaya Raghavan, Rajeev Pillai, Lena, Renji Panicker, Biju Kuttan, Jude Antony, Kulappulli Leela etc also done a great Job. Vineeth Sreenivasan done an extended cameo in it and it also came out really well.
Vinod Illampilly’s DOP was very good and his frames really set the tone of the movie. Music from Shan Rahman was decent and it really blended well with the way director had narrated the plot. Lijo Paul’s editing was also nice and crisp.
Jude Antony Joseph had become successful in making a feel good entertainer which has something fresh in it. We saw many youth oriented movies here in Mollywood. But this writer/director had presented a story from the angle of old people and he presented before us what old people thinks and for what they wish for in their old age. He had told the story in a pleasant manner and that itself given it a smooth flowing feel. He also become successful in giving a message to those who throws their old parents in old age homes considering them as burden. In Total, Oru Muthassi Gada is a nice feel good entertainer which will give you something to think and will make you relax at Cinema Halls as well. It is a family Entertainer and will never let you down as a viewer.
